Chromatic Theatre & Thumbs Up Good Work Theatre present HUCKSTERLAND book by Caleigh Crow Music & Lyrics by Sacha Crow & Gus Rendell As part of the 40th Annual High Performance Rodeo ABOUT THE SHOW: Hucksterland is a new musical in development by Governor General’s Literary Award winning playwright, Caleigh Crow, with music and lyrics by Sacha Crow and Gus Rendell. It is a satirical, rock-and-roll musical about the downfall of corporate landlord extraordinaire, Jordan Jamieson. When we meet Jordan, he is at the height of his powers. Alongside his whipsmart executive assistant and with the Mayor in his confidence, the three of them have a good thing going. But when a new crown prosecutor bent on ending corruption in the Mayor’s chambers expands her investigation into Jordan’s dealings, his desperation drives him to ridiculous exploits in order to stave off justice. Ultimately, they all have to confront their wrongdoings, with varying expressions of remorse, and one of them doesn’t make it out alive. We are specifically inviting those who identify as being part of racialized communities (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) to make up our audience, for this show.
