The Calgary Humane Society invites young readers to build their literacy skills by reading aloud to adoptable shelter animals. Each session opens with a 30-minute presentation about the Humane Society, then 30 minutes of one-on-one reading time with a cat, bunny, bird, reptile or small critter still waiting for a home. Designed for kids aged six and up (each accompanied by an adult), it pairs reading practice with animal-welfare awareness in a gentle, confidence-building setting. Spaces are limited and advance registration through Eventbrite is required.
