Métis leader Louis Riel's exile-era notebook — rarely seen and now part of UCalgary's Rare Books collection — comes out of the vault for an up-close look with librarian Annie Murray. After her presentation, Founders' Gallery curator Dick Averns leads attendees through David Garneau's paired exhibitions Dark Chapters and Reading the Ruins, where NWMP-era artefacts (including Riel's diary itself) are recontextualized in Garneau's still-life paintings.
