Join curator Tak Pham for a guided tour of *Bookends*, a solo exhibition by Elaine Cameron-Weir at the Illingworth Kerr Gallery. Cameron-Weir’s practice explores the systems humans use to navigate the unknown—science, religion, governance, and creative fields. Her sculptures transform objects from scientific, medical, military, and spiritual contexts into reliquary-like forms that symbolize larger belief systems and power structures. By combining found materials with handcrafted elements like enamel, glass, metal, and leather, her installations often appear suspended or balanced by cables and architectural frameworks. These works incorporate transient elements such as heat, light, and scent, hinting at transformation and decay, while symmetrical shapes highlight dualities in perception and storytelling. Though open to multiple interpretations, the works suggest thresholds or portals between different states of being. Meet in the AUArts main mall outside the gallery. Registration is free but required.
