The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland
Share meaningful ideas about history, Indigenous experiences and colonial power as part of The Confluence Symposium on October 3-5. The symposium is one of several community events hosted by The Confluence to commemorate 150 years since the North-West Mounted Police first arrived to the land we now call Calgary and established Fort Calgary in 1875. In the spirit of truth and reconciliation, this commemoration is not a celebration of early Calgary’s history, but an inclusive and critical reflection on the legacy of Fort Calgary and colonialism. Symposium topics will be rooted in the complex histories of the land at The Confluence. The event is meant to bring community together to broaden our collective understanding of the past and inspire active consideration for our present and future.
