Adikavi, the first poet

Adikavi is a classical Indian dance-ballet by Jeevan Jyoti Performing Arts, making its Calgary debut. An ensemble of 18 dancers traces the life of the poet-saint Narsinh Mehta through Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Odissi, anchored by a live score that weaves Hindustani and Carnatic traditions on tabla, sitar, mridangam, violin, and flute. A multi-sensory tribute to the roots of Gujarati devotional poetry, from years of silence to first verse.
