Community
Located in Downtown East Village
Step beyond the standard narratives to explore the deep, layered history of the land where the Bow and Elbow rivers meet. This guided experience offers a chance to connect with the stories carried by the water and rooted in the local ecology. Join a small group for a walking tour that traces the lives of Indigenous Peoples, the original stewards of this gathering place, and the significant shifts that occurred with the arrival of the North-West Mounted Police. You will learn how the site evolved into what is known to many as Fort Calgary, gaining insight into Indigenous ways of knowing and the complex past, present, and future of the land. The experience includes teachings with an Indigenous Knowledge Keeper or Elder on sacred plants, a tasting of traditional mint tea, and an optional smudge ceremony. You will also receive exclusive behind-the-scenes access to The Confluence archaeological collection and admission to the cultural centre's permanent and temporary exhibitions. Spaces are limited, so advanced booking is recommended.
