Curious about songwriting but don't have a guitar at home? This four-week class at the National accessArts Centre lets you explore composition using just one string. You'll listen to iconic riffs like "Smoke on the Water" to spark your own original ideas, with a guitar provided for every session. The program is designed for artists who enjoy focused attention, repetition, and developing fine motor skills. It’s a great fit if you’re interested in foundational music theory and are willing to practice outside of class to progress with the group. No prior instrument is required, though having one at home can help. Led by Ado Nkemka, a multidisciplinary writer and musician whose work has been featured at Sled Island and Calgary Fringe, this workshop offers a supportive space to experiment and create.
