A co-creation between Vancouver dance artist Shion Skye Carter and Halifax mask maker Miya Turnbull, this Fluid Fest performance explores their mixed Japanese Canadian heritage through more than one hundred handcrafted, deeply personal masks. The choreography contrasts family histories and the Japanese concepts of 'honne' (true feelings) and 'tatemae' (public face), evoking the ritualistic and transitory nature of identity. Presented by Springboard Performance's Fluid Fest and the Esker Foundation. Free event — advance registration required via Showpass.
