CHS Reading Buddies

Calgary Humane Society's Reading Buddies gives young book-lovers a chance to practice reading out loud to an adoptable shelter animal. Each session opens with a 30-minute presentation about the Humane Society, then kids spend 30 minutes reading to a cat, bunny, bird, reptile, or small critter through their enclosure. It's a low-pressure way to build reading confidence while inspiring the next generation of animal-welfare advocates. Ages 6 and up; each child must be accompanied by an adult, and spots must be reserved in advance.
