Cultural Renaissance

So you think you know classical music? Let new composers and cultures breathe life into your playlist. Kensington Sinfonia invites you to reimagine the genre through a diverse lineup of contemporary works. Hear Allan Gordon Bell’s Burning Ice and Biting Flame, featuring guest soloist Jeremy Brown, and explore the influences of Ravel’s salon contemporary, Charlotte Sohy. The program continues with Reena Esmail’s Ragamala, embracing Hindustani roots, and Marjan Mozetich’s Affairs of the Heart, guided by the virtuosity of Danielle Greene. This is a chance to hear some of Alberta’s greatest living composers and see the fertile contemporary music scene that defines Calgary’s stage. No prior knowledge of classical music is needed—just an open mind.
