Known affectionately as the "Little Jewel Box," the Martha Cohen Theatre is an intimate 412-seat house tucked inside Werklund Centre (formerly Arts Commons) in downtown Calgary. Continental seating wraps the stage in a three-quarter circle so no seat is more than 39 feet from the action, and the stage itself flexes between thrust, proscenium, theatre-in-the-round, promenade, and cabaret configurations. Long the artistic home of Theatre Calgary, the room hosts plays, dance, music, and special events with the kind of warm, close-up feel that bigger halls cannot match.
